Tonight..

Tonight I was asked to go to a church service by one of my co-workers .... and I agreed.
What was odd, was that, I have been feeling a lil seperated from God... so I really NEeded THis!

I went....

It was soooo amazing! I realize that my spirituality is somewhat like a battery that sometimes needs to be recharged. ANd DID I GET RECHARGED! =p I am so happy that God put my friend in the perfect place at the perfect time.... what an amazing God I serve!! He knows exactly what I need and when I need it.... on time, ALL the TIME!!

Random thoughts at 11:41pm....

Do I HAVE to go to work tomorrow?
Aww... Valentines day is two days away...
that sucks.
No Valentine.
But an AMAZING GOD.
I'd rather have that anyday!
Gas Prices?
Dad snoring.
very Loud.
Best Friend....
wonder how he is.
I should call him.
People change....
not always for the best....
need to move on.
My God is good...
so Good!
These past few weeks have been
some of the toughest in my life...
God has brought me through them.
What are my goals in life?
I am going to attend college this year.
My brain is becoming mush.
Time to start taking more care of...
me.
I need to start getting more sleep...
I think I will start....

now.

Our Teens are Trashed

A sad reality.... just some main points from an article I read and thought was important to share with anyone invoved in youth ministry...

How Can the Church Help Tackle Binge Drinking Among Youth?

Rev. Andrew J. Weaver, Ph.D.

"A new study by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) finds 45 percent of teens report consumption of alcohol in the past month and 64 percent of the students who imbibed said they were binge drinking (defined as having five or more alcoholic drinks in a row)... The study also found that binge drinking is strongly associated with sexual activity, violence, and other high-risk behaviors.

When compared to nondrinkers, teen binge drinkers were:
*Four times more likely to be in a physical fight in the past year.
*Almost four times more likely to have ever been raped or subjected to dating violence in the past year.
*Four times more likely to have attempted suicide during the past 12 months.
*More than five times more likely to have been sexually active with one or more persons during the past three months.
*More likely to use marijuana, tobacco, cocaine, and/or inhalants.
*More likely to have a poorer academic performance."

"How the Church Can Help

Research has shown that stable families lower the risk of alcohol and drug abuse, so church programs that focus on strengthening the family can be a preventive strategy. A strong youth program that promotes good communication and social skills is valuable, as well.

Encouraging teens and their families to be active in the life of the community of faith is in itself an important preventive strategy when addressing substance abuse. Churches are a powerful preventive and healing resource for many teens and their families. Youth who practice their faith have more positive social values and caring behaviors and their families are more stable than those who do not practice their religion. Surveys have found that adolescent regular church attenders are half as likely to use alcohol as teens who do not attend church regularly."

Harry Potter.....Naked?!

NEW YORK - " Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe, who strips for his new role in London's West End revival of the play "Equus," has ignited a bit of a media firestorm by posing for racy promotional photos for the production. It's a really challenging play, and if I can pull it off — we don't know if I can yet — I hope people will stop and think, 'Maybe he can do something other than Harry,' he said."

-yahoo news

IS it true?? Oh NO, not Harry! Is all of this Mania from some Harry Potter fans justified?!

All of the Harry fans on t.v, outraged and sometimes brought to tears, because "Harry Potter" is not acting like that familiar teenager who wears a stripped scarf and funny glasses?

I think i have found out the answer to all of their questions such as "WHY?" and "HOW COULD HE?"....

ummmm..... It's called ACTING!!!! It does not read "Harry Potter" on his birth certificate. That is only a character he plays... so....

Get over it already.

Letter from Grandma

Got a letter from Grandma the other day!
She writes:

Today I went up to a local Christian bookstore and saw a "Honk if you love Jesus" bumper sticker.
I was feeling particularly sassy that day because I had just come from a thrilling choir performance, followed by a thunderous prayer meeting, so I bought the sticker and put it on my bumper. I was stopped at a red light at a busy intersection, just lost in thought about the Lord and how good He is, and I didn't notice that the light had changed. It is a good thing someone else loves
Jesus, because if he hadn't honked, I'd never have noticed! I found that lots of people love Jesus!
Why, while I was sitting there, the guy behind me started honking like crazy, and then he leaned out of his window and screamed, "For the love of God! Go! Go!
Jesus Christ, go!" What an exuberant cheerleader he was for Jesus!
Everyone started honking! I just leaned out of my window and started wavin and smiling at all these loving people. I even honked my horn a few times to share in the love! There must have been a man from Florida back there because I heard him yell something about a "sunny beach"...
I saw another guy waving in a funny way with only his middle finger stuck up in the air. Then I asked my teenage grandson in the back seat what that meant, and he said that it was probably a Hawaiian good luck sign, or something. Well, I've never met anyone from Hawaii, so I leaned out of the window and gave him the good luck sign back. My grandson burst out laughing...Why, even he was enjoying this religious experience!
A couple of the people were so caught up in the joy of the moment that they got out of their cars and started walking towards me. I bet they wanted to pray or ask what church I attended, but this is when I noticed that the light had changed. So, I waved to all of my brothers and sisters, grinned, and drove on through the intersection.
I noticed that I was the only car that got through before the light changed again, and I felt kind of sad that I had to leave them after all of the love that we had shared, so I slowed the car down, leaned out of the window, and gave them all the Hawaiian good luck sign one last time as I drove away.
Praise the Lord for such wonderful folks!
Love, Grandma
